AirBorns India roadmap
#AirBorn has a roadmap for serving the Indian market, made attractive by the big defense spending, and low cost skilled labour for its product manufacturing.
“We have a roadmap for serving the Indian market. It will be either a joint venture on wholly owned manufacturing facility in India in about three to four years,” said Stacey Queen, International Business Development Manager at #AeroIndia 2017, held 14-18 February in Bengaluru.
“We are currently looking at three to four-year time frame for setting up a manufacturing facility in India. We have just started identifying customers such as HAL, ISRO and others.
“The advantage of manufacturing in India is that we can get government approvals,” Queen said of the “Make in India” facilitation.
Airborn is also looking at exporting its products from India to the rest of the world.
“By manufacturing in India, we believe we can become extremely competitive as we bring down the labour cost,” said Queen, adding that lower cost would help increase some AirBorn products market share by 10 folds.
