Axalta serves school meals
Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, has partnered with Akshaya Patra’s food program for the second consecutive year to provide better education by serving meals to children in the community surrounding Axalta’s Savli manufacturing plant in Gujarat state.
This program aligns with Axalta’s global corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support education and the communities in which it operates.
Akshaya Patra is the world’s largest nonprofit mid-day meal program serving wholesome food to more than 1.6 million children from 13,210 schools across 11 states in India.
Akshaya Patra has demonstrated the merits of its nationally recognized initiatives by increasing school enrollment and attendance, decreasing the drop-out rate, and enabling socialization among children, all results of improved nutrition.
“Axalta is committed to support our local communities,” said Vinay Rajadhyaksha, Managing Director of Axalta’s operations in India. “We are proud to partner with Akshaya Patra once again and support the NGO’s vision of ensuring no child is deprived of education due to hunger. Reaching children in Gujarat with nutritious meals through Akshaya Patra helps us give back to society in the best possible manner.”
“We are committed to providing nutritious mid-day meals to children so that they can attend school and build a better life. Support from partners such as Axalta Coating Systems helps us to empower more children with access to education by providing them a nourishing meal. We call upon more companies to follow suit and join the movement to eliminate classroom hunger and aid education,” said Sundeep Talwar, Chief Marketing Officer of Akshaya Patra. fii-news.com
