Tata Communications’ two new centres
Singapore-headquartered Tata Communications is set up two new centres in Malaysia and the Middle East for cloud data centres infrastructure, responding to strong demand from Internet of Things (IoTs) services.
“We continue to expand the data centre footprint. We are looking at Malaysia and the Middle East, adding to our cloud footprint in the next six to 12 months,” said Srinivasan CR, Senior Vice President, Global Product Management & Data Centre Services, Tata Communications.
“There may be new sites (for data centres) as well,” he added after announcing a partnership with Skylab, a Singapore-based technology solutions provider, to help more enterprises adopt the IoT.
Tata Communications has four centres in India, two in Singapore, two in the United Kingdom and one in Hong Kong.
“We constantly look at opportunity to expand at all geography. At the tight time we would definitely want to grow and expand,” he said of continuing investment in communications infrastructure.
“IoT is a very promising industry and growing very fast. We think Tata Communications is well placed to provide Data Centre infrastructure that is required for such IoT implementations,” he said.
Skylab has chosen Tata Communications as its cloud partner to ensure high levels of flexibility and reliability for customers through Tata Communications’ IZO™ Cloud Enablement Platform and leading global network and partnerships, said the two companies in a joint statement.
Srinivasan said “The digital disruption of enterprises continues as the user journey remains firmly at the forefront of business success.
“As the IoT starts to become a reality, real-time assimilation and analytics of data require superior network reliability, highly available cloud platforms, security, scalability and flexibility,” he explained.
“Tata Communications’ pioneering IZO™ Cloud Enablement Platform harnesses our technology partnerships, global network and data centre infrastructure, making us the perfect partner to help Skylab’s customers accelerate their organisation-wide digital transformation,” said Srinivasan.
Skylab provides advanced data harvesting, processing and delivery solutions to its customers over a scalable platform called Data Logistics Cloud (DLC).
The partnership comes on the heels of deployments of Skylab’s solutions in the region, notably for solar farm projects across Southeast Asia.
Gary Kwang, CEO, Skylab Group said, “Skylab provides critical IoT data transmission solutions to enterprises helping them gain insights and drive proactive actions on asset optimisation and resource management.
“As we strengthen our data gathering and delivery platform, we have been building private advanced network infrastructure to address challenges such as latency, security and scalability. We are pleased to partner with Tata Communications to address our growing need for higher levels of system and network availability, and costeffective storage,” he said.
Frank Phuan, Co-founder and CEO, Sunseap Group says, “Sunseap provides full spectrum clean energy solutions. We require an innovative approach to monitoring our solar systems performance and reliably reporting under energy regulations.
“We partnered with Skylab to leverage their technological capabilities and strong partnerships to drive Integrated Energy and Networks Operation Control Center with real-time performance dashboard and accurate reporting,” Phuan said. fii-news.com
