ICT SMEs collaborations
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from India’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector are looking to collaborate with Southeast Asian and Chinese companies in the same fields to produce value added products and services for the global market.
The Indian ICT SMEs believe collaborating with counterparts in these countries will combine expertise, knowledge and technologies, and help with especially managing costs from the low-cost environment of countries like Vietnam.
The campaign is backed by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council of India. It will result in foreign SMEs in IT fields meeting some 250 Indian SMEs at the IndiaSoft 2017, which is being held Feb 13-14 in Hyderabad.
SMEs from overseas, identified and confirmed by the Indian SMEs, will be given one two-day economy class airline ticket free to attend IndiaSoft, said Pratap Hegde, leader of a 15-company delegation on a visit to Singapore and Vietnam Oct 4-7, 2016.
“We are exploring collaborations with SMEs in ICT space in Singapore and Vietnam as we believe we can jointly develop products for the global markets,” he said after hosting B2B meetings in Singapore on Oct 4.
“There is a wider scope of developing products and services by combining capacities and sharing knowledge,” explained Hegde, also managing director of Bangalore-based telemetics4u services pvt ltd.
Some of the Indian ICT SMEs will also evaluate the potential of setting up manufacturing bases in Vietnam, taking advantage of the low-cost business environment in that country.
Hegde sees Singapore as a gateway to seeking collaborations and partnerships with companies in Southeast Asia and China.
“We are taking advantage of Singapore’s strategic location for our advance market drive to SMEs in Southeast Asia and China,” added Vikrant Saxena, senior manager
There are opportunities for tapping on to the new ideas, innovations, concepts and designs from Singapore and Vietnam, as well as regional companies, and combined creativity with Indian own products and softwares for international markets, he said. fii-news.com
