Minor ports
Minister of State for Shipping & Ports Mansukh L. Mandaviya has called for development of 48 minor ports in Gujarat which has the highest number of waterfront facilities in the country.
Speaking in Gandhinagar on September 22, 2016, he said ports have a huge potential to ensure success of “Make in India”.
Gujarat has highest number of ports in the country which are key for economic growth.
He said a number of projects for ports and coastline have been sanctioned by the Central Government.
The sanctioned projects include:
Construction of new berths for increasing passenger service and costal cargo near Porbandar.
Construction of Marine Ship Building Yard near Bhavanagar.
Development of fisheries harbour near Veraval and Ro-Ro ferry dredging work between Ghogha and Dahej.
Road construction connecting Bhavanagar – Sosiya, Alang Ship Recycling yard under Bharat Mala Project.
Construction of hostel, hospital etc for port workers.
Skill development and security of labourers working at Alang Ship Yard. fii-news.com
