World Bank assures
World Bank President Dr. Jim Yong Kim has assured Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, of financing for India which is consciously choosing to follow an environmentally sustainable path.
During a meeting with Modi, in New Delhi on June 30, 2016, Dr. Kim said he was impressed by the progress made on ambitious initiatives in areas like Smart Cities, Ganga Rejuvenation, Skill Development, Swachh Bharat and Power for All.
Dr. Kim assured the Prime Minister that the World Bank would be proactive and fully support this agenda.
Dr. Kim also appreciated India’s rapid progress in improving the ease of doing business, especially in the area of logistics.
“We are extremely pleased with the progress that’s been made in six priority areas. Prime Minister Modi and his entire Cabinet have set extremely difficult and important targets. I have been so pleasantly surprised how much progress that has been made,” Kim told reporters.
He revealed the World Bank lending has gone up tremendously over the last two years to over US$5 billion and that would continue for the next few years. fii-news.com
