India is set to invest INR60,000 crore to double its ports capacity to 3,000 million tonnes (MT) by 2025 from 1,500 MT in 2015, announced Road, Transport and Shipping Minister Union Nitin Gadkari said.
“We will double the capacity of our ports to 3000 MTPA by 2025,” he said, adding the investment will be made by May 26, 2016.
Investments worth Rs 2 lakh crore are expected from the Maritime India Summit to be held in Mumbai from April 14 to 16, he said when announcing the three-day event at the Foreign Correspondents Club in Mumbai on April 12.
