India’s TVS Logistics Services Ltd is bringing Defence supply chain expertise back home, after honing it’s skills and experience from the several strategic contracts it holds with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and defence industry partners in the United Kingdom.
“We have several supply chain contracts with the UK Defence Ministry and we want to do the same in India,” said Mike Kay, the company’s Account and Business Development Manager in Lancashire.
“The Indian defence ministry is very keen to transform their logistics and supply chain and reduce cost of delivery,” he noted.
TVS in the UK already services a number of military contracts, including the provision of spare parts for Land Rover, Armoured Fighting Vehicles and Defence Construction Vehicles. The company also has a contract to procure and support consumables for Army field kitchens and operates bespoke Defence warehousing facilities.
In addition, TVS is key subcontractor to Team Leidos who are contracted to deliver the UK MoD’s Logistic Commodities & Services Transformation (LCS[T]) programme.
LCS(T) will provide significant operational effectiveness by delivering improved responsiveness and agility. It will also improve efficiency in procurement and stock control of food, clothing, general and medical supplies as well as storage and distribution. It is expected to deliver financial savings of around £0.5 billion over the next 13 years.
“TVS already has a significant logistics presence in its home marketplace, and we can invest our time, money and people combining this with the skills and expertise we have developed for the UK MOD to help improve the supply chain for the Indian defence ministry,” he said, stressing the importance of introducing the experience of managing supplies to the UK MoD. fii-news.com
