Haryana and Chandigarh accelerates DPRs
Detailed project reports (DPRs) are being prepared for 11 projects in Amritsar, 19 in Jalandhar and 19 in Ludhiana as part of the ‘Smart Cities Mission (SCM)’ development.
These projects are estimated to cost Rs.3,385 crore in Amritsar, Rs.1,899 crore in Jalandhar and Rs.1,898 crore in Ludhiana.
This was reported following a review of developments in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh by Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri on 3 Feb 2018.
The projects include setting up of ‘Integrated Smart city Centre’, Smart roads etc.
Phase I of integrated command and control center has been completed in Ludhaina. These when implemented will improve the traffic congestion, increase open spaces and improve the public amenities.
Projects for improvement of Rambagh Garden, improvement of GolBagh, up-gradation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama at Amritsar are underway in Amritsar.
So far Projects worth Rs.61 crore have been approved for Amritsar under the Heritage City Scheme and Rs.45 crore have already been released. Being a heritage city, it needs to improve solid waste processing.
The Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY) sees a demand for about 3.5 lakh houses in the 163 towns in Punjab with an estimated investment of Rs.1,182 crore, for which the Central Government would amount to Rs.597 crore – of which Rs.64 crore of Central assistance has been disbursed.
Meanwhile, 329 projects have been sanctioned for construction of 42,497 houses.
Under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme of PMAY (Urban), 838 beneficiaries have availed an interest subsidy of Rs. 16.81 crore.
Fast track proposals are required for 1.25 to 1.5 lakh houses to saturate 50% of its demand by 2017-18.
HARYANA
Sixty approved SCM projects, worth Rs.2,342 crores, are at the DPR/tendering stage for Haryana’s Karnal and Faridabad cities.
The projects include rejuvenation of Badhkal lake and Barahi Talab in Faridabad.
Eighty-five projects have been sanctioned for construction of 24,980 houses in Haryana where PMAY cites demand for about 3.5 lakh houses in the 80 statutory towns.
This would require investment of about Rs.1,743 crore with Central assistance amounting to Rs.375 crore.
The state has been told to fast track proposals for at least 60,000 houses to saturate 50% of its demand by 2017-18.
Projects worth Rs.86 crore are at the tendering stage under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in Haryana which has a target to provide 2.74 lakh new tap connections.
The State was urged to complete the DPRs for projects worth Rs.1,358 crore while contracts worth Rs.722 Crore have been awarded and
The State needs to take steps to process all the waste being produced as it is processing only 3%.
CHANDIGARH
Seventy SCM projects worth Rs.6,214 crore have been approved and Central Assistance amounting to Rs.196 Crore released for Chandigarh.
DPRs are being prepared for the remaining projects costing Rs.5,919 crore.
Chandigarh was urged to complete DPRs for projects worth Rs.60 crore.
Contracts worth Rs.185 crore are under implementation/tendering.
