Partnership to support net-zero target

Gujarat’s KP Group and the Government of Botswana will jointly develop US$4 billion renewable energy and allied infrastructure projects, adding nearly 5 gigawatts of capacity under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU, announced on 31 Dec, will see KP Group and the Government of Botswana collaborate on large-scale renewable energy generation, energy storage, and transmission infrastructure.

The partnership supports Botswana’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 and marks a significant milestone in KP Group’s international expansion, the NSE-listed KP Group said https://www.nseindia.com/.

The MoU follows the recent visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Botswana, reflecting the strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations in clean energy development.

The agreement was signed between Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy and KP Group, comprising KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited https://www.bseindia.com/ .

The collaboration also includes the development and strengthening of high-voltage transmission infrastructure within Botswana, along with regional interconnections to enhance power reliability and energy security https://www.investindia.gov.in/.

As part of the partnership, KP Group will offer 30 scholarships annually to citizens of Botswana to pursue education and skill development in renewable energy, engineering, sustainability, and allied fields. This initiative aims to build local capabilities, encourage knowledge transfer, and support long-term workforce development in the clean energy sector.

Commenting on the collaboration, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy, said the partnership would accelerate clean energy deployment while delivering long-term economic and environmental benefits.

Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founding Promoter of KP Group, said the MoU reflects a shared vision to unlock Botswana’s renewable potential and contribute meaningfully to its net-zero journey.

KP Group currently has a renewable energy portfolio of approximately 6 GW in India and is advancing toward its target of 10 GW by 2030, with active interests in green hydrogen, energy storage, and advanced solar solutions. Fiinews.com
