Partnership to help in visibility of Indian products globally

In a major step to catalyze India’s e-commerce export potential, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amazon India to accelerate exports by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

This partnership aims to establish a dedicated e-commerce export task force to collaboratively shape policy frameworks, enable infrastructure support, and increase awareness of e-commerce export opportunities among Indian businesses, FIEO said on 6 Aug https://www.bseindia.com/.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi by Dr Ajay Sahai, Director General & CEO, FIEO, and Chetan Krishnaswamy, Vice President, Amazon http://amazon.com.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Sahai emphasized the significance of this collaboration saying that India’s MSME sector has immense potential to contribute to global trade. By partnering with Amazon, we aim to build the capacities of small businesses, including artisans, weavers, and manufacturers, and help them leverage e-commerce for international expansion https://www.makeinindia.com/home/.

“This MoU is a pivotal step towards enabling MSMEs to overcome traditional export barriers and become competitive global players https://sbi.com.in/.”

Dr Sahai also added that the MoU annals a milestone for both FIEO and Amazon with an objective to institutionalize the relationship for an enabling and supporting ecosystem for e-commerce exports https://www.nseindia.com/.

The partnership will further help in visibility of Indian products globally and will work closely with stakeholders to identify the issues and address them. He reiterated that the govt has also come out with new scheme for e-commerce hub, which will further help in boosting overall exports of the country https://www.digitalasiahub.org/.

Chetan Krishnaswamy said that this landmark partnership between Amazon and the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) marks an important step towards boosting India’s ecommerce exports. Through this collaboration, we aim to support India’s vision of achieving US$200-US$300 billion in e-commerce exports by 2030 https://www.commerce.gov.in/.

“Having already enabled over US$13 billion in e-commerce exports from India by 2024, we recently renewed our pledge to enable US$80 billion in cumulative exports by 2030. This partnership will enable Indian businesses to leverage Amazon’s global marketplace presence across 20+ countries,” he said.

Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling India, added that Sustainable export growth requires more than just having great products – it needs a supportive ecosystem. “Our collaboration with FIEO is about creating an accessible and scalable framework for Indian businesses to thrive globally https://www.jpx.co.jp/english/.

“By combining Amazon’s global infrastructure and FIEO’s institutional reach, we aim to reduce operational hurdles, improve export readiness, and empower entrepreneurs to build successful export businesses. This initiative is aligned with Amazon’s goal of enabling $80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030.”

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr Suvidh Shah, Additional Director General, FIEO; Mr Aman Jain, Director, Public Policy, Amazon Global Selling; Mr Ashish Jain, Deputy Director General, FIEO and Mr P T Srinath, Director, FIEO http://deutsche-boerse.com.

The whole programme titled “E-Commerce for Exporters: Expanding Reach, Navigating Challenges” entailed signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) along with session on Stakeholder Consultation on e-commerce and an Amazon Registration & Onboarding session, which helped in deliberating on key issues, challenges, and the way forward to promote a more enabling environment for e-commerce exports from India.

Key Features of the MoU:

Creation of an E-commerce Export Task Force: To develop a strategic roadmap for policy and infrastructure support tailored to ecommerce exports.

Capacity-Building Programs: Amazon and FIEO will jointly organize workshops and training sessions focused on high-potential export categories such as Home linen & décor, Health & personal care, Apparel, Toys, Packaged foods, Handicrafts and more https://www.wto.org/.

Local Export Communities: Formation of offline support networks that facilitate peer learning, hands-on assistance, and access to export-related service providers.

Seller Enablement & Nomination: FIEO will nominate promising sellers and manufacturers from export-relevant sectors, while Amazon will provide guidance on onboarding, international compliance, and scaling operations through Amazon’s global marketplaces. Fiinews.com
