Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar presented business opportunities in his state to Singapore-based investors on 22 May 2017. He witnessed the signing of five Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) between the state and investors for investment worth of Rs.18,000 crore.

Opportunities are available in many sectors such as industrial infrastructure and logistics, Industrial corridor, Smart cities, and others.

Here are the highlights of his presentation.

India’s logistic and warehousing sector is growing at an impressive rate. Haryana has tremendous potential to grow and contribute in this sector.

Haryana’s strategic location at the center of North India is favourable for warehousing and logistic sector. Fifteen National Highways are crisscrossing through the state.

Gurugram and Faridabad are major industrial districts which have strong manufacturing clusters near to National Highways.

Post Goods and Services Tax (GST), to be implemented 1 July 2017, locations such as Faridabad, Manesar and Gurugram will have the potential to become the Stockyard of North India.

The state is in the process of drafting Logistics policy and is working on a scheme for development of Truckers Parks/Logistics Parks.

With easy access to the resources and ready customer base, the investor feels confident in making investment. Benefitting from the location, the state is developing new industrial township at Sohna on 1,500 acres and Kharkhoda on 3,000 acres.

Some of the major infrastructure project coming up in the State are Integrated Multi-model Logistic Hub, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor.

Spread over 900 acres at Nangal Chaudhary, Narnaul, the Integrated Multi-Model Logistic Hub (IMLH) will be the biggest integrated logistic hub of North India. Another advantage with IMLH site is that it is abutting the Delhi Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor, which passes through Haryana.

New industrial corridors as locations for logistics hubs

The Haryana state Government, along with Central Government, is working on development on the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor projects. These industrial corridors are the potential locations for Logistics hubs.

The KMP expressway will surround Delhi from three sides and will connect three highways namely NH-44, 48 and 9. A Global Economic Corridor has been planned on either side of the expressway with 1 KM area reserved on either side of the Expressway for development of sectoral theme parks.

Moreover, 10% area has been earmarked for development of Logistics hubs along its entire alignment. This corridor has the investment potential of US$50 billion.

A Global City is in the initial stage of development in Gurugram. It is proposed to be developed over area of 1,000 acres with an investment potential of US$15 billion. The land is available and the master plan has been finalized. This project is expected to be come up as India’s first Global Smart City.

A Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) has been planned over a length of 100-km, it would provide reliable, fast and adequate rail-based commuter connectivity. The estimated cost of the project is US$3 billion. Land for the project has already been acquired.

An Aviation Hub on a 3,500-acre site in Hisar will have a domestic airport, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul centre, training institute and Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing Park.

Three cities are being taken up for development as Smart Cities in Haryana – Karnal, Faridabad and Gurgaon. fii-news.com
