Upper Bhadra Project allocated Rs.5,300cr
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the Rs.4,130 crore Mysuru-Kushalnagar 4-lane highway, and dedicated key development projects in Mandya, Karnataka, including the dedication of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation.
The 92-km project will play a key role in boosting the connectivity of Kushalnagar with Bengaluru, reducing travel time to 2.5 hours from about 5 hours currently.
Modi underlined that the development of advanced infrastructure projects in the country is taking place. “Bharatmala and Sagarmala Yojna is transforming the landscape of India and Karnataka today,” he said.
He pointed out that Rs.5,300 crores have been allocated for the Upper Bhadra Project in this year’s Budget while the irrigation projects that were stuck for decades are also being completed at a fast pace, solving irrigational issues faced by the region.
He informed that last year, the country’s sugar mills have sold ethanol worth Rs.20 thousand crores to oil companies which have helped in timely payment to the sugarcane farmers last year.
Modi pointed out that Karnataka was the biggest beneficiary of received investments in 2022, having received more than Rs.4 lakh crores.
Apart from IT, the Prime Minister said that industries such as biotechnology, defence manufacturing and EV manufacturing are expanding at a great pace while industries like aerospace and space are witnessing unprecedented investments.
The rapid pace of development of infrastructure projects has been a testament to the vision of the Prime Minister to ensure world-class connectivity across the country.
Foundation stones were also laid for:
Rs.1,040+ crore Dharwad Multi Village Water Supply Scheme;
Rs.150 crore Tupparihalla Flood Damage Control Project, which aims to mitigate damage caused by floods and involves the construction of retaining walls and embankments;
Various projects of Hubballi-Dharwad smart city. Estimated to cost Rs.520 crores, the projects will enhance the quality of life by creating hygienic, safe and functional public spaces and transforming the town into a futuristic urban centre.

In this endeavor, the Prime Minister dedicated the Rs.8,480 crore Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation. The 118-km and 6-lane Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru section of NH-275 will reduce Bengaluru and Mysuru travel to about 75 minutes from around 3 hours.

Rs.850 crore IIT Dharwad for which the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone in February 2019. The institute currently offers a 4-year B.Tech. programs, inter-disciplinary 5-year BS-MS program, M.Tech. and PhD programs.
The longest railway platform in the world at Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station. The 1,507 m Rs.20 crore station has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records recently.
