Rasmussen sees importance of India in achieving the world’s sustainability goals
Denmark and India have joined forces in the green strategic partnership to support the global effort for a more sustainable future, Frederik André Henrik Christian, Crown Prince of Denmark, told an energy conference in New Delhi on 1 Mar 2023.
“Denmark and India have joined forces in the green strategic partnership, and together we can support the global effort for a more sustainable future,” the Crown Prince said at the ‘India – Denmark: Partners for Green and Sustainable Progress’.
His Royal Highness further spoke about Denmark and India’s 400-year-old historic relations, underlining “India’s vibrancy and its will to move ahead which has brought about incredible economic development and facilitated its ambitious green goals.
“Today, India and Denmark share values and ambitions as we head towards a sustainable future together.”
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, added that the green strategic partnership has become a cornerstone of bilateral relationship.
“We recognize the importance of India in achieving the world’s sustainability goals.”
Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, elaborated on the two countries’ green strategic partnership, “Since the launch of the green strategic partnership between India and Denmark in 2020, the bilateral cooperation is focused on promoting green and sustainable development.
“India and Denmark have adopted very ambitious national targets on climate and energy that will contribute to the ambitious implementation of Paris agreement,” he said.
The Minister further spoke about the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) launched by India to achieve its 2030 goals and its contribution to the sustainable development goals.
He invited the global community to be part of such a mission.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) President Sanjiv Bajaj noted, “Our ambitious targets for Climate action open new opportunities for businesses.
“India has shown the best climate performance amongst G20 countries and is World No.4 for RE and Solar Power.”
CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee illustrated on the five areas of collaboration for India and Denmark – Green businesses, ESG, green supply chains, sustainability support for MSMEs and collaboration on Water Management. fiinews.com
