Scindia underlines Govt’s duty to provide air connectivity to Rewa region
The Airports Authority of India is undertaking Rs.300 crore revival of the Rewa Airport in Madhya Pradesh, upgrading existing airfield and building facilities to operate 19-seater aircraft.
AAI will build a terminal building to handle 50 passengers at peak hour.
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan, laid the foundation stone of Rewa Airport project on 15 Feb 2023.
Rewa Airfield has a runway of 1,400 meters with a small building of 150 sq. meters and 61.95 acres of land.
The State Government has handed over the existing airport site to the AAI to upgrade and operate the airport.
Work was awarded to AAI on 22 Dec 2022 and includes a terminal building of 750 sq m. The state Government is provided the required land for the airport development. An additional 290-acre will be required for the project.
Addressing the gathering at the event, Scindia said, “It is our duty to provide air connectivity to the Rewa region and fulfil the aspiration of the people.” fiinews.com
