US Group CEOs updated on Indian progress and plans

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has discussed with top business executives in New York such as investment opportunities, deepening of capital markets and private equity landscape in India.

He tweeted briefs about his meetings on 9 Jan 2023 focused on potential and opportunities in India.

Goyal discussed potential of infrastructure, renewables and green hydrogen projects with investment group Blackstone CEO and Chairman Stephen Schwarzman.

He exchanged views on how to enhance Johnson Controls role in decarbonisation and developing sustainable buildings with its chairman and CEO George Oliver. Johnson Controls has a big presence in India.

Further, he discussed with Oliver IoT and AI and the need for development security products.

The Minister also held discussions with Mastercard CEO Michael Meibach and global investor Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co co-founder and co-Executive chairman Henry Kravis.

Goyal said he discussed India’s on going multi-billion-dollar infrastructure plan, manufacturing and startup incubators with Kravis.

He also addressed the US India Business Council’s roundtable, updating the council about India’s economic transformation.

“Stronger India-US trade and surging crossflow of investments are adding new value and dynamism to our bilateral partnership,” Goyal told the Council members.

The Minister interacted with stakeholders from industry, think tanks and academia at the Council on Foreign Relations focused on strengthening the India-US trade partnership and India’s role as a trusted investment destination.

Goyal tweeted, “Discussed wide-ranging issues including India’s G20 Presidency.” India assumed G20 presidency this year and is expected to work on global issues.

“Technology and production cooperation between the two companies will contribute to India’s development of filter technology.”

Goyal is on an official visit to New York and Washington DC from 9-11 January 2023 to participate in India – US Trade Policy Forum.

Both India and USA are natural partners and have trade complementarities, long standing strategic and economic relationship, people to people contact, and both are vibrant democracies too, said the Commerce and Industry Ministry on 8 Jan 2023.

The two countries are also collaborating under the QUAD, I2U2 (India-Israel/UAE-USA) and IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework).

Regular exchanges at the leadership-level have been an integral element of the expanding bilateral engagement.

The outcomes emerging from these visits have been instrumental in further strengthening the multifaceted ties between the two countries. fiinews.com
