Kerala allocated 266 MW of nuclear power
Minister of State for Atomic Energy Dr Jitendra Singh said four units of 1,000 MW capacity each at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will be completed by 2027.
The four units are currently under construction while two units, also of 1,000 MW capacity each, are in operation in the southern Tamil Nadu state.
In a statement laid on the table of the Rajya Sabha in reply to a question, Dr Jitendra Singh said on 8 Dec 2022, the projected installed capacity of Kudankulam site is 6,000 MW, comprising of six nuclear power reactors of 1,000 MW capacity each.
The power generated by nuclear plants, including Kudankulam, is allocated by the Ministry of Power to the various beneficiary States and Union territories in the region from time to time.
To date, Kerala has a firm allocation of 266 MW from KKNPP-1 and 2 apart from the unallocated quota among others. fiinews.com
