OEMs and MSMEs participating in Navy projects, says Admiral Kumar
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R. Hari Kumar said that 88% of Navy’s future contracts, amounting to Rs.175,000 crore investments in projects, are being progressed through Indian enterprises.
In addition, 29 Indian OEMs along with MSMEs across the country contributed their products and services to Y-3023 Dunagiri, a Project 17A frigate built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata.
These OEMs and MSMEs are also participating in the seven P17A Frigates under various stages of construction at Mazagaon Dock Limited (MDL) and GRSE.
“Thus, the Navy’s budget has a significant ‘plough-back’ into the economy and towards Nation-building,” said the Admiral.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the P17A Frigate on 15 July 2022 in Kolkata.
The P17A Frigates are follow-on class of the P17 (Shivalik Class) Frigates with improved stealth features, advanced weapons and sensors as well as platform management systems.
The ‘Dunagiri’, a world class stealth frigate, is designed with multidimensional capabilities to destroy enemies from sea, sky and underwater. fiinews.com
