IRClass supports clients’ efforts to increase efficiency

Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), an international ship classification society, has secured two classification contracts with Bangladesh’s leading companies, Toggi Shipping & Logistics Ltd of Bashundhara Group and Three Angle Marine Limited (TAML).

These new contracts add to the wins IRClass has accumulated since it received the Recognised Organisation (RO) status from the Bangladesh Department of Shipping in 2017.

The Toggi Shipping contract covers 12 self-discharging General Cargo Ships with an option to contract for additional 12 vessels subsequently. Toggi Shipping is a business unit of the Bashundhara Group, which is one of the largest industrial conglomerates of Bangladesh.

These self-discharging vessels are set to be deployed in coastal waters of Bangladesh and are fitted with specialised equipment (conveyor system capable of discharging 300 tons/hrs) to allow the handling of cargoes at ports which are not equipped to do so. This will give the operators free rein in choosing a berth, saving time and costs for owners.

The second contract is with TAML, a prominent shipbuilder in Bangladesh extensively involved in Govt. of Bangladesh ship construction projects. The new construction contract includes two Ro-Ro Pax vessels having a capacity of 100-150 vehicles and one passenger vessel of 700 Pax capacity. IRClass is also involved in another cargo vessel being built by the same shipyard.

“Our track record in delivering great value and quality technical advice are some of the key reasons to why our clients choose to work with us. As our clients’ needs rise in complexity, we see our role evolve to act as a facilitator beyond the usual inspection works,” said Amit Bhatnagar, VP & Regional Manager – East Coast of India & Bangladesh of IRClass.

“Being involved at an early stage of a ship construction gives us an opportunity to analyse our clients’ operational needs and provide suggestions to optimise and plan ahead to accommodate for future modifications.

“We work towards supporting our clients’ efforts to increase efficiency, profitability and sustainability and we are pleased with how our commitment in Bangladesh is being recognized,” he said. #contracts #projects #exports #marine /fiinews.com
