The feasibility study has been initiated for the proposed road connecting Gurugram and Delhi through Aravali Biodiversity Park, said the Minister in an update on projects. Some environmental concerns have been raised in this regard.

The alignment of this road has not been finalized but would be done in consultation with all the stakeholders including State Governments.

Various other projects have also been initiated for connectivity between Delhi and Gurugram have also been taken up such as construction of underpasses at IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk on Delhi – Gurugram road which have been completed.

The Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) and Delhi-Meerut Expressway by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), for improving connectivity in National Capital Region, have been completed.

The Ministry and NHAI have been empowered for appraisal and approval of National Highway (NH) projects under EPC and PPP modes of execution, said Gadkari in an update on projects.

Further, NH projects envisaged on BOT (Annuity) Mode and Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) which cost more than Rs.2,000 crore (TPC excluding land cost) require appraisal by PPP Appraisal Committee (PPPAC), said Gadkari.

The Government had approved Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in October 2017 with an aggregate length of about 34,800 km (including 10,000 km residual NHDP stretches) at an estimated outlay of Rs.5,35,000.00 crores.

These include development of about 9,000 km length of Economic corridors, about 6,000 km length of Inter-corridor and feeder roads, about 5,000 km length of National Corridors Efficiency improvements, about 2,000 km length of Border and International connectivity roads, about 2,000 km length of Coastal and port connectivity roads, and about 800 km length of Expressways.

Total 246 road projects with an aggregate length of about 10,100 km have been awarded till February 2020 under Bharatmala Pariyojana with total cost as Rs.238,413 crores approximately, which also include projects on Greenfield Corridors, said the Minister. fiinews.com
