Update: DRP in progress on six bullet trains
Site survey and feasibility studies have been completed on raising the speed to 160 kmph on existing New Delhi-Mumbai (including Vadodara-Ahmedabad), and New Delhi-Howrah (including Kanpur–Lucknow).
Detailed estimate, based on actual requirement at site, are under sanction, said Railway Minister in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on 13 Mar 2020.
In August 2019, the Government had sanctioned Rs.6,806 crores and Rs.6,685 crores for the two projects, respectively.
These two works are targeted for completion in four years subject to availability of fund and statutory clearances, said the Minister in an update on railway projects.
Separately, alignment for six high speed rail corridors have yet not been finalized, as the Detailed Project Report study is in progress, said Goyal.
The corridors are:
Delhi -Varanasi
Delhi – Ahmedabad
Mumbai– Nagpur
Mumbai – Hyderabad
Chennai – Mysore
Delhi –Amritsar.
For now, Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor is the only sanctioned project under execution with technical and financial assistance from Government of Japan. fiinews.com
