APEDA holds roadshows in Jakarta and Medan

Agricultural Products Export Development Authority

The Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, has urged Indian and Indonesia companies to explore means to diversify trade basket through focused items such as bovine meat, sugar and rice.

Rawat was addressing the Multi Product Road Show held in Jakarta 16 Sept 2019 where presentations were made on Indian products by a 40-member trade promotion delegation led by Paban Kumar Borthakur, Chairman of the Agricultural Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), an apex body under the Commerce and Industry Ministry.

The Ambassador reiterated the target of US$50 billion set for bilateral trade between the two countries by 2025.

The 2018-19 bilateral trade was US$21.11 billion.

The APEDA visit to Indonesia aims to increase exports of Buffalo Meat, Rice and Sugar.

The Indonesia Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita welcomed the Indian delegation and expressed the hope that the multi product road show would lead to greater synergies in trade between the two sides.

The APEDA delegation discussed with Director General of Foreign Trade of Indonesian Trade Ministry, Bulog and Pt Berdikari (State Owned Procurement Agencies of Indonesia), as well as AGRI (Indonesian Refined Sugar Association).

The delegation also held a business seminar in Medan on 17 Sept 2019.

APEDA also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KADIN. fiinews.com
