Delhi meeting discusses trade issues
India has signed a protocol for export of chilli meal to China following a meeting between Commerce Secretary, Anup Wadhawan and Chinese Vice Minister, General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), Li Guo.
Both sides discussed trade related issues of pending Indian request for clearance of agricultural products at the meeting held in Delhi on 9 May 2019.
Both sides appreciated each other’s concerns and agreed to resolve market access issues expeditiously in order to achieve the vision of the leaders of both India and China by promoting a more balanced trade, said the Commerce and Industry Ministry in a release on 9 May 2019.
Previous protocols signed on Agricultural Commodities by the two countries are:
Mango in 2003; Bitter Gourd and Grapes on 11 April 2005; Rapeseed meal on 15 May 2015 but finally agreed in 2018; Basmati Rice on 21 November 2006; Basmati Rice & Non-Basmati Rice on 9 June 2018; Fish meal/Fish oil on 28 November 2018 (protocol for hygiene and inspection requirements for export of fishmeal fish oil to China); Tobacco Leaves on 21 January 2019 (First Protocol was signed on 14 January 2008 for a period of 4 years. It was renewed on 21 January 2019); and Chilli Meal on 9 May 2019.
