Strong aviation growth for 20 years

Ministry of Civil Aviation.

India, with its domestic aviation sector growing at an impressive 20% a year over the last four years, will added 1,000 new planes over eight years, Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey said on 15 Jan 2019.

Supporting such growth in the sector will be projected one billion trips in the next 15 years, said Choubey, adding that India will be adding 100 more airports.

He described India as an aviation locomotive for the world, providing homogenous opportunities for airlines and supporting industries from across the globe.

He sees the strong growth for at least the next 20 years.

Speaking at the Global Aviation Summit in Mumbai, he assured that the government will ensure that airports and supporting infrastructure are in place for such strong aviation sector growth.

On a high growth trajectory, the global aviation industry is ushering in an era of rapid expansion, said Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The International Civil Aviation Organization has predicted a 100% increase in global air travel by the year 2030, creating a need for extensive efforts to bring the entire aviation ecosystem to pace.

To ride the strong tailwinds and pave the way forward for the sector, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, in collaboration with FICCI, is holding the summit, “Flying for all – especially the next 6 Billion” 15-16 Jan 2019 in Mumbai.

Determining the growing demand for air travel especially in emerging economies, the Summit aims to provide a platform to the stakeholders to brainstorm over the future of aviation industry and identify the growth areas, said FICCI.

The Summit also offers the stakeholders an opportunity to explore, deliberate and understand how technology-driven innovations will change air travel in the decades to come.

Experts and CEOs from Global Aviation Fraternity are at the summit emphasizing upon the latest trends, futuristic aircraft and cutting-edge technologies.

The meet gives the opportunity to highlight latest concepts like drones, air taxis, volocopters, new jets and ultra-light aerial electric vehicles etc. It will also entail discussions on airports of future, innovations, safety & security, financing & leasing, sustainability and growth drivers – cargo, logistics. fiinews.com
