Nepal seeks Indian investors

Hydropower, tourism projects on the development list

Nepal has invited Indian investors to participate in a wide range of projects including hydropower, tourism, telecom, transport equipment and food processing.

Bharat Kumar Regmi, Charge d’Affaires at Nepal Embassy in New Delhi, cited opportunities for investment and cooperation for Indian companies in different sectors such as tourism, hydropower, construction, pharmaceuticals, textiles, wood and wood products, telecom, transport equipment, food processing, chemicals, light engineering, IT and ITeS etc.

Highlighting the Government’s policy of attracting foreign investment, he called on Indian companies and entrepreneurs to invest in various sectors by taking full advantage of its enormous possibilities and the Government’s favorable policies.

Regmi made the offer at seminar on “Tourism, Trade and Investment Opportunities in Nepal” in Hyderabad on 4 May 2018.

More than 130 representatives of public and private sector companies of India and officials attended the seminar organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Krishna Hari Pushkar, Minister-Economic at the Embassy, underlined the competitive advantages available in Nepal particularly citing hydropower, infrastructure development and adventure tourism sectors.

B. Venkatesham, Secretary, Tourism, Government of Telangana highlighted the importance of Indo-Nepal relationship, saying Telangana is interested to sign an MoU with the Nepal Tourism Board to promote India and Nepal together as tourism destinations.

Devendra Surana, Managing Director, Bhagyanagar India Ltd, said Nepal was an attractive investment destination for its abundant and untapped geographical resources and minerals besides enormous potential in hydro power. fii-news.com
