36 bridges, 260 culverts, 11 vehicular underpasses planned for Gudebellur–Mahabubnagar section
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued Letter of Award (LOA) for 4-Laning of Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar Section of NH-167 in Telangana to KNR Constructions Limited for an amount of Rs.1,734 crores on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
The 80 km long project, a part of the Hyderabad–Panaji Economic Corridor, was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in February 2026.
The implementation of the project includes construction of five major bridges, 36 minor bridges, 260 culverts, 11 vehicular underpass, 22 LVUP, one RoB/RUB, service roads of length 48 km and a 56 km long slip road.
The Gudebellur–Mahabubnagar section of National Highway 167 currently faces significant travel delays particularly in densely populated towns and villages such as Gudebellur, Magnoor, Makthal, Marikal, Devarkadra, Jaklair, Yeligandla and Banderpally. The upgrade to a four-lane standard will ease traffic bottlenecks, improve road safety and ensure smoother freight and passenger movement.
Once completed, the project will also help to strengthen multimodal integration by linking three PM Gati Shakti economic nodes, nine social nodes and seven logistics nodes. It will also improve connectivity to Hyderabad’s industrial and commercial centres, including the Hyderabad–Bengaluru NICDC corridor, pharmaceutical and medical clusters and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
The 4-lane National Highway will connect major cities and towns such as Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Raichur, Devarkadra, Makthal and Hyderabad, while facilitating access to religious and tourist destinations in the region.
NHAI has also issued a Letter of Award (LoA) for the construction of underpasses and flyovers at Jaipur Bypass Junction on the Delhi–Jaipur–Ajmer Expressway (NH-48) in Rajasthan to Maruti Infracreation Pvt Ltd at a cost of Rs.130.65 crores under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
The current 200 feet junction is a critical and high-traffic intersection in Jaipur city, facilitating movement between Delhi, Ajmer, and key urban areas of Jaipur, including Mansarovar, Shyam Nagar, and Vaishali Nagar. The high traffic volume and densely populated residential areas around the junction results in significant congestion due to the intermixing of National Highway and local traffic.
The project includes construction of two underpasses, one for traffic moving from Delhi to Mansarovar and another for traffic from Mansarovar towards Delhi, along with two flyovers to facilitate seamless movement between Jaipur to Ajmer and Ajmer to Delhi. These grade-separated structures will enable smoother and safer traffic flow by segregating local and through traffic, significantly reducing waiting time at the junction.
At present, vehicular movement at the junction requires vehicles from multiple directions to navigate traffic signal crossings, leading to delays, increased fuel consumption and reduced travel efficiency. The comprehensive infrastructure upgrade at the junction will help to address these challenges.
Upon completion, the project will enhance overall traffic efficiency, improve road safety and lead to substantial savings in travel time and fuel for commuters. The project marks an important step towards strengthening urban mobility and easing congestion at the busy National Highway intersection, contributing to improved connectivity along NH-48 corridor in Rajasthan.
