G-to-G collaborations to promote RE development
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy collaborates with potential countries in the field of Renewable Energy including Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Green Hydrogen, Storage, Grid integration among others, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik has updated Rajya Sabha.
“Through various mechanisms such as Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), Letters of Intent (LoI), Joint Declarations of Intent (JDI), Energy Dialogues and Partnerships,” he said in a written reply on 3 Feb.
The modalities of collaboration in the various domains of the Renewable Energy sector include exchanging policies, capacity building and lessons learned, exchange of personnel for training, exchange of scientific information, organization of workshops, seminars and working group meetings, development of joint research or technical projects on subjects of mutual interest. In this process, there is extensive engagement with the officials of foreign Governments and private industries to facilitate partnerships, the Minister elaborated.
The Ministry and its institutes have entered into collaboration with foreign Governments, Institutes and other international organizations which include Australia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Brazil, Canada, Chile Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guinea, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Peru, Portugal, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Seychelles, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, UAE, United Kingdom, Uruguay, USA, Uzbekistan, India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Trilateral Forum and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The Government has taken several measures to promote technological or operational improvements, which inter-alia include:
(a) Support to research, development and demonstration of new renewable energy technologies, components and systems.
(b) Implementation of quality assurance mechanisms through Standard & Labelling programmes.
(c) Issuance of Quality Control Orders.
(d) Issuance of Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar PV and Wind Turbines.
(e) Issuance of Standard Bidding Guidelines for tariff based competitive bidding process for procurement of Power from Grid Connected Solar, Wind, Wind- Solar Hybrid and Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects.
