New wave of data centres-CoEs development in progress, says market expert

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) factory boom in India is connected to data sovereignty, just like other countries that are investing heavily to ensure that their technology is homegrown and managed domestically, according to Mohan Veloo, chief technology officer for Asia Pacific and Japan at Seattle-headquartered F5 (NASDAQ: FFIV).

“We’re seeing (an increasing number of) data centres and centres of excellence being built to support AI for the local market. There’s also increasing regulation around AI,” Veloo said on the side line of Cyber Week held Oct 14-17 2024 bseindia .

Elaborating, he pointed out the rise of AI factories as these are like data centres but dedicated to AI. “It’s a new wave of development,” added Veloo, pointing to the F5’s response to AI demand in India through offices in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Noida nseindia .

Veloo noted the rapidly growing investments in building infrastructure in India over the recent years, and as such continuing increase in data sovereignty and security sbi.com .

“India, like other countries, faces challenges with data regulation,” he pointed out, but noted intensified efforts on the part of regulators to protect data and keep it in the country meity.gov.in .

Markets need a robust regulatory regime for managing advanced technologies, he underlined, appreciating that the Indian government, for one, is working on the regime to manage fast -pace growth in technologies that are vital for economic growth jpx.co.jp .

“There is no shortage of technology talent in India,” Press Trust of India quoted Veloo as saying at the Singapore conference.
“And with the government, aware of nurturing the talent for the world and ensuring that investors are comfortable while investing in the country, it is working well ahead of the regulatory requirements,” observed Veloo, an industry veteran who has worked on technology development for over three decades deutsche-boerse .

F5, a global leader in multi-cloud application security and delivery, inaugurated its new engineering centre in Bangalore in May last year. F5 India was incorporated on Oct 13, 2016 sgx.com . Fiinews.com
