624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric project to cost Rs.4,285.59cr
The 1,000 MW Pakal Dul is expected to cost Rs.8,112.12 crore when completed in 2025, making it the largest hydro project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Atomic Energy, said on 11 Nov 2023.
Another major project is the 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric project which is expected to cost Rs.4,285.59 crore when completed in 2025, he said while on a tour of the remote and peripheral areas of Kishtwar district where 6 to 7 major Hydro power projects have come.
Further, the 850 MW Ratle project has been revived as a joint venture between the Centre (Indian Govt) and Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
In addition, the existing Dulhasti power station has an installed capacity of 390 MW, while Dulhasti II Hydroelectric project will have a capacity of 260 MW.
Dr Jitendra Singh said these projects augment the power supply position and brings in huge investment.
As such, Kishtwar is all set to emerge North India’s major “power hub” generating around 6,000 MW of power on completion of the ongoing projects. Fiinews.com
