Sonowal says the shipping group has acquired new and second hand ships

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCIL) has acquired 59 ships and is in process of acquiring an Offshore Vessel as per requirement of one of the Charterers with a procurement deadline of Q2 of 2023-24, said Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on 16 Dec 2022.

New and second hand or resale ships are acquired by SCIL as per the Annual Plan projections drawn and depending on the existing market scenario and the available business opportunities, he said.

The acquired vessels are 13 Tanker – Crude Oil Carriers, 13 Tanker – Product Carriers, 1 Gas, 15 Bulk Carriers, 2 Liners, 10 Offshore Supply. fiinews.com
