Govt has resolved 5,119 issues related to 1,095 projects
A total of 634 contracted infrastructure projects have shown time overrun, inter-alia, due to issues like Land Acquisition, Forest Clearance, Wild Life Clearance, Right of Way, Right of Use and Court Cases among other issues, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Som Parkash, said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 3 Aug 2022.
These were part of the 1,875 projects on Project Monitoring Group (PMG) Portal as on 28 July 2022. These projects were estimated worth Rs.150 crore.
The Government, after establishment of PMG, has taken proactive steps and resolved 5,119 issues pertaining to 1,095 projects.
The Government has put in place a mechanism called Online Computerised Monitoring System (OCMS) under Ministry of Statistic and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) for monitoring these projects.
Cost escalation can only be calculated on completion of these delayed projects, said the Minister.
The mechanism of Project Monitoring Group (PMG) is supported by a digital platform over which Project Proponents are able to update project related information and raise issues which can be seen by concerned State and Central Ministries on real time basis.
This results in effective monitoring of projects and expeditious resolution of issues, he added. fiinews.com
