Ministry hands over 40-acre land for civil terminals and airfield infrastructure developments
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is to undertake several airport-related projects to facilitate Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) and expansion of civil airports at Srinagar, Thanjavur, Chandigarh, Leh, Pune and Agra.
AAI has received ‘Working Permission’ from the Indian Air Force-Defence Ministry to use existing airfields at Bagdogra, Darbhanga, Adampur, Utarlai, Sarsawa, Kanpur and Gorakhpur for civil flights under the RCS UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) scheme.
Approximately 40 acres of land is being handed over to AAI for development of civil terminals and necessary airfield infrastructure for commencing RCS flights, said the Defence Ministry on 3 June 2022.
The land allocation will facilitate expansion of the existing terminals and facilities to accommodate enhanced number of passengers and cargo infrastructure.
Providing air connectivity at these locations will boost the economy and develop the areas, added the Ministry. fiinews.com
