Dec 2021 exports rose 10%
Tamil Nadu’s TVS Motor Company’s total exports during the third quarter increased by 13% to 2.9 lakh of two- and three-wheelers in the third quarter of the current financial year from 2.6 lakh units shipped in the third quarter a year ago.
It said exports grew by 10% on the year in December 2021 to 103,420 motor units compared with 94,269 units shipped in December 2020, reflecting a healthy recovery in international markets and the recovery resilience of Covid-battered global economies.
Two-wheeler exports grew by 9% to 88,629 units in December 2021 from 81,327 units in December 2020, the Hosur industrial city-based TVS Group said on 3 Jan 2021.
Overall, the two- and three-wheeler manufacturer registered sales of 250,933 units in December 2021 as against sales of 272,084 units in December 2020.
Total Dec 2021 two-wheelers registered sales was 235,392 units as against 258,239 units sold in December 2020. Domestic two-wheeler registered sales of 146,763 units in December 2021 as against sales of 176,912 units in December 2020.
Dec 2021 motorcycle sales grew by 12% to 133,700 units, up on 119,051 units in December 2020. Scooter sales registered 67,553 units in December 2021 as against sales of 77,705 units in corresponding month a year ago.
Three-wheeler sales grew by 12% to 15,541 units in December 2021 from 13,845 units in December 2020.
During the third quarter of the current financial year, the company’s two-wheeler sales was 8.3 lakh units as against sales of 9.5 lakh units in the third quarter of the previous year.
Sales of three-wheeler grew by 17% to 0.44 lakh units in the third quarter of the current year from 0.38 lakh units in the third quarter of the previous year. fiinews.com
