New lines of 21,037 km being added
As on 1 April, 484 Railway projects of 51,165 km length, costing approx. Rs.7.53 lakh crore, are in different stages of planning, sanction and execution. Out of these 10,638 km length has been commissioned, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a written reply in Lok Sabha on 8 Dec 2021.
Approximately, Rs.2.14 lakh crore has been spend on these projects up to March 2021, he added.
The projects include:
187 New line projects of 21,037 km length, costing Rs.405,916 crore, out of which 2,621 km has been commissioned with expenditure of Rs.105,591 crore incurred up to March 2021.
46 Gauge Conversion projects of 6,213 km length, costing Rs.53,171 crore, out of which 3,587 km length has been commissioned with expenditure of Rs.22,184 crore up to March 2021.
251 doubling projects of 23,915 km length, costing Rs.293,471 crore, out of which 4,430 km has been achieved commissioned with expenditure of Rs.86,041 crore has been incurred up to March 2021. fiinews.com
