Tender floated for the 6.75-km Majuli bridge
Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are being done on Rs.26,000 crore of projects while contracts for Rs14,000 crore will be awarded in Assam in 2021, said Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
DPRs are also being prepared for 20 projects of 845-km worth Rs.25,700 crore, he said at the inauguration and laid foundation stone ceremony for 27 highway projects in Assam on 25 Dec 2020.
Nineteen projects of 295-km, costing Rs.13,620 crore, were awarded this year while 357-km road projects worth Rs.2,511 crore will be complete in the coming year in the state. For this year, 217-km of roads were completed during 2020 at a cost of Rs.1,102 crore.
Among other projects, a tender has been floated for the 6.75-km Majuli bridge which is part of the 131-km long Majuli project worth Rs.900 crore.
Also, construction of the Rs.4,497 crore Dhuvri-Phoolbari bridge will begin in the coming month, a DPR for which has been completed, he said. Foundation stone for the 19-km bridge will be laid in early January 2021.
Gadkari has also announced the construction of a multi-modal logistic park (MMLP) in Silchar, the second in Assam after the one being made in Jogighopa.
