3Cs for India-ASEAN strategic partnership
India, having taken major steps towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, is ready to engage with the rest of the world with a deep concern for the global community as a whole.
This assurance was given by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal who has also underlined 3Cs – Cooperation, Collaboration and Commitment as a guide for the strategic partnership between India and ASEAN countries.
He addressed the ASEAN – India Business Council meeting on 28 Aug 2020. FICCI as secretariat AIBC organized the virtual meeting.
The Minister shared that India is prepared for discussions with ASEAN Countries for review of AITIGA for mutually beneficial partnerships and fairer trade.
India needs to work along with ASEAN countries in the reduction of Non-tariff barriers, building infrastructure and connectivity, integrating logistics, seamless digital-connect, collaboration in healthcare and pharmaceuticals and push for a review of AITIGA. This call was made by FICCI President Dr Sangita Reddy, Co-Chair (India), AIBC.
Dr Reddy, also a Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, highlighted that the collective thought of ASEAN members will outline a roadmap towards the seamless movement of goods and services.
Malaysia’s Ramesh Kodammal, Co-Chair (ASEAN), emphasised that ASEAN and India should take concrete steps towards increasing the trade between two regions as the regions offer a huge market consisting of one-third of the world’s population together.
