Airports being modernized
More than Rs.3,000 crores are being spent to modernize the existing #airports in the North East including Imphal Airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a launch of Rs.3,000 crore water project in Manipur.
The projects include 60,000-km of #roads in addition to about 3,000-km completed.
These investments are a part of a wide range of projects for the development of the North East region, he said during the foundation stone laying the Manipur Water Project.
Modern infrastructure is being developed in the North East along with #Roadways, #Highways, #Airways, #Waterways and inland waterways as well as gas #pipelines.
There is a huge improvement in the area of rail connectivity in the North East with projects to build new railway stations and convert the existing rail network into a broad gauge.
Similarly, the work of connecting the capitals of every state of the North East with a rail network is going on for the last two years at a fast pace.
Today, there are about 13 operational airports in the North East.
These developments would give a fillip to India’s Act East Policy and provide a gateway to country’s #travel and #tourism sector, said Modi. #infrastructure #development #water #projects #tenders #contracts /fiinews.com
