Ministries to address MSME issues, says JHA
Agricultural sector is least affected by the COVID-19 with growth prospects compared to impacted sectors such as tourism, hospitality, aviation, etc.
Stating this on 5 May 2020, Somnath Sarangi, Associate Professor, IIT, Patna, explained that there is a downfall growth in financial, real estate, mining, construction, manufacturing.
He further highlighted that “this lockdown has given us the time to plan and strategize for ourselves to achieve growth and development for the future.”
There is a decrease in the import and export of products, he noted.
There were benefits, such as high usage of technology, which has given an opportunity to connect with the world while sitting remotely.
MSMEs of India has the challenges and downfall, but there is an opportunity to grow and has a scope to develop, he added.
The industry needs to see when and how to grow, Sarangi told PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries’ Webinar on “Scope Of MSME Post Covid-19”.
The webinar addressed the micro, small, and medium enterprises’ concerns as the sector is one of the hardest hits due to the Covid-19 lockdown in India despite being a major contributor to the GDP growth.
Vishwa Mohan Jha, Director, MSME Development Institute, Patna, Mr. assured that issues raised at the webinar will be taken up by the concerned ministries and in the concerned forums for solution at the earliest.
Dev Prakash Goyal, Co- Chairman MSMEs Committee, PHD Chamber, shared the issues and challenges faced by the industry while also suggesting relief measures and steps to ensure smooth working of the industry in the country.
