The Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC), as Nodal Agency, is undertaking the techno-economic feasibility studies for station redevelopment in phases.

Meanwhile, 20 railway stations are to be redeveloped by 2018-19, Minister of State of Railways, Rajen Gohain told Rajya Sabha on 4 Jan 2019.

An agreement has been signed with the French Railway (SNCF) for joint study on Renovation Concept Design of Ambala and Ludhiana stations, he said.

Likewise, Korean Railway has expressed interest in the redevelopment of New Delhi Station.

Redevelopment of stations is planned through leveraging commercial development of vacant land and air space in and around railway stations, which make such station redevelopment cost neutral to Railways.

The ‘Adarsh’ Station Scheme for upgrading platforms and facilities has been ongoing since 2009-10 with 1,065 upgraded and developed out of the 1,253 identified.

Thirty-two stations have been identified for development under Adarsh Station Scheme in Punjab of which 25 have been developed. The remaining 7 stations are to be developed by 2018-19.

Sixteen stations have been identified for development in Haryana of which 11 have been developed. The remaining 5 stations are to be developed by 2018-19.

Forty of the 46 stations have been identified and developed in Andhra Pradesh. Six will are to be developed by 2018-19.

Twenty-two of 24 stations have been identified for developed in Telangana while remaining 2 stations are to be developed by 2018-19. fiinews.com
