Kannur airport to be operational by Sept 2018

Japanese, South Korean and Chinese are among the investors keen on setting up marine product processing factories in the southern state of Kerala, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu has assured.
“I spoke to Japanese, Chinese, Koreans and others about setting up processing factories for marine products in Kerala and other parts of India,” he said during a meeting on 23 June 2018.
“This will also make the foreign markets available to Indian fishermen. Our idea is to develop commodities, create infrastructure, develop tourism and provide air connectivity in Kerala.
“We are also working on making Kerala a hub for logistics,” he added.
The cabinet has allocated Rs.5,000 crores towards development of 12 champion sectors including tourism in Kerala state.
Meanwhile, the Kannur airport will be provided with all possible help to be operational by September this year, Prabhu said during a meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on 23 June 2018.
A feasibility study will be done for setting up an Indian Institute for Packaging (IIP) campus in Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri district. fiinews.com
