Develop more tourist projects, says Gadkari
Goa, one of India’s most popular tourist states, has been assured of all funds for development of Sagarmala Projects as well as waterway links to hotels and airports.
The assurance came from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga, on 20 Mar 2018.
Gadkari suggested that hotels and airports in Goa be connected with waterways, which can be most cost effective for tourist travelling.
Goa could become a ‘Cruise destination’ in the future, he added at the inauguration of an Inland ferry services in the port city of Vasco.
“Goa owes its emergence as a tourism state due to its coastal belt. The tourism sector has very high potential for Investment and employment generation,” said Gadkari.
The use of waterways is economical, environmental friendly; and needs better utilization, he said.
He also disclosed that the central government has so far provided R.15,000 crore for development of roads in the state. fii-news.com
