Technology proposals not seen in FDI beyond 49%

Picture of Tata’s defence system.

The Indian Defence Sector has not received any foreign technology development proposal since June 2016 when foreign direct investment was revised for international participation.

Since the revision of FDI policy in defence sector, beyond 49% under government route, no foreign proposal on technology development has been received, said Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on 3 Jan 2018.

The government revised FDI policy in defence sector, according to which FDI upto 49% is allowed under automatic route and beyond 49% through Government route wherever it is likely to result in access to modern technology. fii-news.com
