297 projects showcased to investors
Assam government is considering a new capital city at Guwahati based on a similar master plan is one done for Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati by Singapore master planners.
This option was explored by State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who this week visited Singapore’s Surbana Jurong, the Amaravati master planner.
Assam, the main norther eastern state of India, is set for massive development and has presented 297 projects to investors in Singapore, Japan and South Korea.
The projects were part of roadshow promoting “Advantage Assam” conclave to be held in Guwahati 3-4 February 2018.
The projects include ports, logistics parks, river transport, tourism, tea and others medicinal plants grown widely in Assam.
Guwahati is also gearing up for air connectivity with Singapore, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Commercial viability of flights between Guwahati, Singapore, Dhaka and Myanmar is being discussed at advance level, said Sarma.
“We are hopeful of starting the Guwahati- Singapore flights next year,” said Sarma after presenting the roadshow in Singapore on 1 Dec 2017.
As for now, Guwahati has flights to Bangkok while air connectivity with Bhutan is being considered. fii-news.com
