Foxconn eyes Gopalpur

Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group is planning to locate one off its 12 manufacturing setups in India at Tata Steel SEZ Gopalpur in Odisha.
A Foxconn team has visited the 3,500-acre Gopalpur special economic zone for a 1,000-acre factory for its mega manufacturing plans which include Apple’s iPhones under “Make in India”.
Foxconn has asked for 1,000 acres of land, reported media reports, citing Pranab Prakash Das, Odisha’s minister for electronics and information technology.
Discussions are in early stage.
The Gopalpur SEZ’s port is suitable for supporting Foxconn’s exports.
Foxconn’s production plans could include the making of Apple’s iPhones in India.
Foxconn is rated as the world’s largest electronics manufacturer. fii-news.com
