California-based UST Global, an information technology solutions and services company for Global 1000 enterprises, has been announced as the winner in the “Innovation in Outsourcing” category at the Aecus European Innovation Awards 2015.
UST Global won the category for the high-end telemedicine solutions it developed for Hiranandani Hospitals in India on the BlackBerry platform.
With over 70 per cent of India’s population owning a mobile phone and the growth rate of smart phone users in India increasing to 55 per cent, UST Global successfully tapped into this trend developing a telemedicine app for mobile devices, in association with BlackBerry India and Hiranandani Hospital.
The application automates the entire clinical workflow of a patient-doctor consultation across two distant locations. It provides the full functionality of a land-based telemedicine solution including patient registration, capture and upload of information on a patient’s disease, investigations and existing medical records, and appointments scheduling – all using mobile devices at a fraction of cost compared with capital intensive telemedicine.
Commenting on this progress in telemedicine, Ms. Annie Mathew, Director, Asia Pacific – Alliances and Business Development, BlackBerry, said, “Mobile applications are set to revolutionise the healthcare segment in India and UST Global has developed a seamless solution to connect doctors and patients remotely.”
Dr. Pavan Kumar of Hiranandani Hospital, India, said, “This app development is going to replace desktop telemedicine solutions to mobile devices, giving people power to get healthcare in their hands through smart phones. This collaboration reinforces our continued focus towards improving the health and wellbeing of India by providing an innovative solution with high quality and secured BlackBerry platform services.”
The Aecus award triumph reflects UST Global’s commitment to developing high-end digital solutions. Commenting on the achievement Mike Hopewell, Managing Director UST Global, said, “We are excited to have won this award and look forward to provide affordable medical treatment via this telemedicine app to the whole of India.”
Rick Simmonds, Managing Partner of Aecus, said, “UST Global have applied both leading edge technology and strong partnering principles to develop an innovative solution which by transforming healthcare delivery will make a real difference to many peoples’ lives.”
UST Global is a leading digital technology services company that provides powerful solutions for Global 1000 companies. It has over 15,000 associates; operating in 25 countries across four continents.
