Indo-Russia JV to produce rifles
A Government-appointed consultant has been working on Detailed Project Report for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, an investment of Rs.3,700 crore for which has been announced.
Minister of State at the Defence Ministry, Shripad Naik, gave this update in a written reply to Dr. Ashok Bajpai in Rajya Sabha on 8 July 2019.
In addition, Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL), a joint Venture Company with Ordnance Factory Board (India), JSC Rosonbornexport and JSC concern Kalashnikov (Russia) is in place.
The JV envisages production of Rifle AK-203 and its modifications in India of at least 7.50 lakh Rifles.
Six nodes have been identified for Corridor viz. Agra, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Kanpur and Lucknow.
Six consultation meetings of stakeholders were organized across various nodes of Uttar Pradesh, he said. fiinews.com
