Norwegian experts will explore commercial potential of low carbon fuel bunkering

Classification society DNV, headquartered in Høvik, Norway, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mumbai Port Sustainability Foundation (MPSF), a non-profit entity under the Mumbai Port Authority, to cooperate on activities and projects related to decarbonization, digitalization, emissions management, and safety mumbaiport .  

The MPSF, through its Centre of Excellence on ESG and circularity, aims to support local ports and maritime companies in the enhancement of their overall sustainability through the adoption of advanced technologies and eco-friendly practices bse.

Under the MoU, DNV will provide MPSF with expert guidance and insights into industry needs, regulatory requirements, technological advancements, as well as safety and quality protocols in the maritime and energy sectors nse . DNV experts will also work closely with MPSF to explore the commercial potential of low carbon fuel bunkering, storage and transfer, among others sbi .

Commenting on the occasion on 30 Aug, Dr R. D. Tripathi, CEO of MPSF, said, “The joint working of DNV with MPSF through this MoU will facilitate in-depth analysis of issues and innovative solutions for overall sustainability and greening opportunities of the port operation wto .”

Adding to this, Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Regional Manager South East Asia, Pacific & India, Maritime at DNV, elaborated, “This is a transformative period for India’s maritime sector and we’re excited to be partnering with MPSF on this journey towards greener port operations maersk .

“This MoU represents a significant step forward in developing and modernizing port infrastructure to support the transition to cleaner energy sources.
