Mumbai ranked among top 20 routes
Singapore’s Changi Airport scored well with growth in passenger traffic to and from India, with 4.76 million passengers handled in 2018, making India its sixth largest market.
Singapore is now air connected to Northeast India via Guwahati through the route operated by Drukair Royal Bhutan Airlines from Changi.
The connection to Pune opens up a direct connection between Singapore and the second largest city in Maharashtra State, one of Changi’s top unserved points in India, said the airport.
The air link between Singapore and Amaravati’s Vijaywada Airport was also a significant milestone, marking Singapore’s partnership with Andhra Pradesh to build the new capital city of Amaravati in Southeast India.
Mumbai was listed among Changi’s top 20 routes grew by at least 5% in 2018.
The top five markets for airfreight were China, Australia, Hong Kong, the United States and India, said Changi.
Growth was observed for airfreight throughput across all segments – exports, imports and transshipments.
Overall, Changi handled 65.6 million passengers in 2018, up 5.5% on the year.
The airport handled 386,000 landings and take-offs, an increase of 3.4%. Airfreight throughput increased by 1.4% to reach 2.15 million tonnes for 2018. fiinews.com
