Land provision for eight lanes

The Andhra Pradesh Government has agreed to transfer state land free of cost for an Access Controlled Green Field Expressway connecting the new capital city of Amaravati to Anantapuramu.

The state government has also agreed to bear 50% of the cost of the land to be acquired, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, told the Rajya Sabha on 7 Jan 2019.

Further, the state Government has committed to obtain requisite statutory clearances i.e. environmental, forest, wildlife etc.

Approval, award of civil work and execution of work for the expressway is being taken up expeditiously, he said.

The alignment has been finalized for the 384-km four-lane expressway, but it would have the provision for upgrade and expansion to eight-lane in the future depending on the traffic requirement. fiinews.com
