Developments to be on reclaimed sites along Brahmaputra
The Assam government has nominated nine sites along rivers for development of greenfield townships, each covering 500 acres of reclaimed land.
The nine townships will be based on reclaimed land. It involves dredging of Brahmaputra River, on which logistics and transportation network is being developed.
1. Project Location: Bogibeel (Dibrugarh District).
Bogibeel is 15-km away from National Highway (NH) 37 and 50-km away from Dibrugarh Airport.
2. Project Location: Jogighopa (Bongaigaon District) 500-acre.
Jogighopa is along NH 37 and has a railway station.
It is 138-km away from Guwahati Airport.
3. Project Location Kurua (Darrang District).
Connectivity Kurua is 20-km away from NH 52 and 65-km away from Guwahati Airport.
Proximity to Guwahati via ferry and Dalgaon Industrial Growth centre makes Kurua an ideal location for development of a new port based township.
4. Project Location: Nimati Ghat (Jorhat District)
Connectivity Nimati Ghat is 15-km away from Jorhat and 10-km from AT Road.
Nearest airport at Jorhat is approximately 21-km away.
Proximity to the proposed tourist circuit of Majuli makes Nimati Ghat an ideal location for development of a new port based township build around a mixed economic model primarily based on tourism.
5. Project Location Lakhipur (Cachar District)
Lakhipur town is located in Cachar district one of the three administrative districts of Barak valley, where the Barak River is to be developed for logistics and transportation.
Connectivity Lakhipur town is 36-km away from Silchar and 31-km away from Silchar railway station.
Nearest airport at Silchar is approximately 42-km.
6. Project Location Silghat, Nagaon.
Silghat is 12-km away from NH 37 and 59-kms away from Tezpur Airport.
7. Project Location Dikhoumukh, Sibasagar District.
Dikhoumukh is 9-km from NH 37. The nearest airport at Dibrugarh is located 112-km away.
8. Project Location Sualkuchi, Kamrup Rural.
Sualkuchi, located 50 kms from Guwahati is well connected with rest of Assam by road through MDR. State Highway 02 is 15 kms from Sualkuchi. Nearest airport LGBI is 8 kms away by waterway and 50 kms by road.

9. Project Location Dhubri.
Dhubri, located 260-kms from Guwahati, is well connected with rest of Assam by road through NH 31 and 27. Nearest airport LGBI is 248-km by road.
Each greenfield township development in land to be reclaimed from dredging of Brahmaputra River.
Each project cost is subject to detail project report (DPR).
Project contours: Rapid rural to urban migration in the State has stressed the existing urban infrastructure of Assam. This has necessitated growth of new urban areas with excellent connectivity.
With the newly proposed expressway along Brahmaputra and planned usage of the river for logistics and transportation, there is immense potential for developing land along the river for greenfield townships.
Civil work related to construction of River Port Road Connectivity, Market Complex with Parking, Sewage Treatment and Waste Disposal Parks and Gardens Residential Apartments Commercial Hubs/Malls Community Halls etc.
Concerned Agency shall ensure supply of Electricity and Water at the site.
